Easter Camp 2011

“A wonderful camp”,” the best ever”. These were some of the comments on Thursday evening last as tired

PC members loaded their ponies after a packed and energetic few days at Cloncaw Equestrian Centre.

What we lacked in quantity we certainly made up in quality. The D+ group worked so hard that they were

able to do their test on Wed-a day early! We are happy to report that all 9 members passed with flying

colours. Thank you, Geraldine, for your guidance and expert tuition.

On Thursday the same group had a mini ODE. Dressed to perfection they began the day with a dressage test

performed in silence. This was followed with SJ on grass. Thank you to our two score keepers,

Seanie and Ryan. Lastly they braved a course of XC jumps. Thank you to the parents who acted as fence

stewards. Just in case they had any energy left we ran a treasure hunt at lunchtime.

The Senior group were under Orlas watchful eye. They began with a lesson on lungeing which some

parents/grandparents found particularly interesting. Each member had a” go” while another rode minus reins.

Various lessons followed rapidly, SJ, Equitation jumping and of course XC.

Usually it is members who fall in the water but I saw a very wet instructor dismounting at one stage.

The less said the better! Katie will remember both her first PC camp and her 15th birthday.

Did you fall or were you pushed? Thank you, Orla.

A sincere thank you to all parents, members, instructors and the Bellew family, who helped to make camp

such a success. Four members have already booked for Summer.

We had a busy July 09 with rallies held at Cloncaw Equestrian Center, Castle Leslie Estate,

McArdles, Emyvale and regular games rallies at Hughes, Tyholland.

. Our four day Summer Camp was held at Cloncaw Equstrian Center, Glaslough with  five instructors,

Louise, Jo, Geraldine, Orla and Rosemary.

Many committee members were  also busy organising our One Day Event (Horse Trial).

At 9.00 am on Sunday morning July 19th, 2009  five dressage arenas were in use around the

Cloncaw farm, two show jumping areans had to be  kept on the go to finish up in time to begin

the cross country section.  Where competitors obtain  a clear cross country and clear at showjumping,

then all is down to their dressage score(lowest  result is best).

Many thanks to our hard working committee who organised the many helpers. It was great to

see so many none competing family members helping out on the day.  Our appreciation to

everyone who helped us out on the day.
